Job Description

Position:

Hourly Instructional Aide (0.7 FTE/20.5 hours per week) Montessori Early Childhood

Tobin Montessori School Cubs Corner

The Role:

The Montessori Early Childhood Instructional Aide will work collaboratively with the Family Liaison and the Lead Paraprofessional to support the Tobin preschool children in our early afternoon program Cubs Corner. Duties include supervising and assisting students as they eat lunch monitoring students during rest time guiding children during outdoor play and fostering their social skills during choice time activities. The Instructional Aide will also work collaboratively with the Lead Paraprofessional to plan read alouds and/or thematic projects. Other duties as assigned.

Toileting of students is a duty that an individual may be expected and required to perform as a paraprofessional employed by the Cambridge Public Schools.

Your Skill Set:

As the incoming Hourly Instructional Aide you will possess many though perhaps not all of the following characteristics and qualifications:

  • Experience working with a diverse population of young students and parents.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of a socio-economically racially and linguistically diverse population of students and parents.
  • Be able to take directions from classroom teacher Resource teacher and other support personnel.
  • Must have the physical ability to work on the floor and move around the room to support students and teachers in curriculum implementation use of manipulatives and other instructional methods and materials.
