Job Description

Overview

This position will have the responsibility for outreach functions including student engagement fostering and maintaining community partnerships communications and outreach and community mobilization that leads to stronger community engagement and community partner recruitment within the Hampton Roads area for the HOPES free clinic. The position will be responsible for developing the plan to accomplish broader community awareness and engagement as well as execution on those addition the person filling this position will be responsible for the curriculum coordination of the Medical Education 4th year HOPES/Street Health elective. This means that the person filling the position and will be managing information in the curriculum management system coordinating student assessments implementation of processes to ensure achievement of curriculum and elective goals and objectives and assisting the thread director and other supervising faculty in the development of complete and accurate medical education content

Responsibilities

  • Provide staff support including ordering of patient care supplies material and equipment organizing meetings room scheduling food and any other meeting logistics related to HOPES and the CEL department for daily clinic operations community meetings EMR data collection and entry grant and grant reporting data reporting and other clinic related functions.

  • At the direction of the CEL Assistant Director and HOPES Medical Director support the implementation of community-engagement learning tasks at HOPES for by preparing materials and working directly with community groups including but not limited to donor and stakeholder visits

  • Work with other curriculum coordinators to ensure smooth functioning of 3rd and 4th years and communicates with elective directors and curriculum coordinators regarding any necessary student remediation for the CEL HOPES/Street Health M4 elective

  • Originate and maintain documentation/schedules for students in the CEL HOPES/Street Health M4 elective. Maintain elective data in the curriculum management system (and related systems) including event scheduling room and resource scheduling instructional content learning objectives event student and instructor rosters attendance reporting exams evaluations and grades for the HOPES and Street Health elective.

  • Interact and correspond with HOPES students and help troubleshoot any questions they may have and responds to inquiries from faculty students and administrators regarding CEL clinics or the HOPES and Street Health CEL M4 elective matters.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree (or equivalent in experience) in a health or social and behavioral science field such as public health community health psychology sociology social workwith increasing responsibility highly preferred; but not required.

Previous experience in an academic or clinic setting

Candidate must have:

  • Strong Written Communication and Attention to Detail: Proficiency in composing and editing communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Data Management: Ability to gather manage and report large amounts of data accurately using electronic systems ensuring all information is correct.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Interpersonal Skills: Skilled in working with diverse groups including students faculty and administration to collect feedback and ensure clear communication of updates and processes.
  • Time Management and Organizational Skills: Competence in managing multiple tasks meeting deadlines and keeping stakeholders informed of progress throughout the process.
  • Problem-Solving and Process Improvement Skills: Ability to identify opportunities for improving clinical year processes offering suggestions and notifying of all concerns
  • Required software skills: Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft Outlook Microsoft PowerPoint
