Job Description
Job Title: Plate Department Leader
Location: Clarksville TN
Shift: Night Shift 7pm - 3:30am Mon-Fri
Job Summary:
The Plate Department Leader is responsible for leading the daily production of work in the Plate department and ensuring the efficient and timely completion of Plates going into the Press department. This includes quality productivity and spoilage. The incumbent provides expertise training and support to areas assigned by the supervisor or manager and in the absence of the supervisor assigns work and coordinates resources with team members to meet department goals. They will maintain routine communications and collaboration with other leaders and supervisors across all shifts.
The incumbent monitors and addresses plate issues working to render effective solutions and corrective actions to improve overall workflow and quality. They assist and support the press supervisors and manager in work processes suggests process improvements and demonstrates a commitment and dedication to Quality and Safety standards. They may be assigned other duties as determined by the press supervisors or manager.
Incumbents of this role are required to be on call and/or available after hours to provide theirown mobile device and to distribute theirmobile phonenumber individuals may distribute their office phone number if their office phone is set to forward calls to their personal device when they are not physically present.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School degree or GED required
- 3-5 years of experience in Plate equipment (CTP) operation and processes
- Proven leadership skills in a manufacturing or production environment
- Ability to train and lead others to meet quality and productivity standards
- Good mechanical and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrated commitment to quality continuous improvement and safety processes
- Must be a team player and possess a professional and positive attitude
- Excellent computer skills with MS Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook)
- Excellent communication skills written and verbal
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Willing to work flexible hours and overtime with short notice
- Works well under the pressure of deadlines
- Must have flexibility to learn and use new technology
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and push plate carts.
- Must have an excellent performance and attendance record
Preferred:
- Associates degree Technical or Vocational training in a related field
- Pre-press experience and/or general printing production experience.
- Experience with Kaboose Plant Admin ticketing process & functions
- Imposition experience (templates and operator functions)
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the Plate department in the daily production of Plates for efficient and timely delivery to the Press department. Resolves issues with holds and quality concerns and coordinates rework. Maintains optimal inventory levels. Makes final decision on inspector questionable quality issues.
- In the absence of the supervisor assigns work to plate team members and fills in as operator when necessary. Troubleshoots equipment and works with maintenance technicians to ensure equipment downtime is reported and repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Train new and existing employees on machine operation and safety procedures and policies. Ensures that all department team members receive adequate training to achieve production goals. Answers questions encourages and provides support to department employees to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Serve as a functional workflow and machine expert for project teams and process improvements. Collaborates and communicates with other departments to optimize production efficiencies.
- Maintain accurate production records and prepares reports for supervisor or manager.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and provides recommendations. Assists with planning for equipment materials and work processes.
- Responsible for working within the plants general Safety and work rules. Ensure a safe and secure work environment.
