Job Title: Building Superintendent Live-in

Location: Transitional Housing Facility New Rochelle NY (Westchester County)
Employment Type: Full-Time Live-in Position
Compensation: $50000 annually Full Benefits Package
Housing: On-site apartment provided rent-free (utilities included)
The Live-in Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance safety and upkeep of a transitional housing facility in New Rochelle NY which provides temporary apartment-style housing to approximately 50 families with children. This is a live-in role with 24/7 availability for emergencies and building-related concerns. The ideal candidate is hands-on reliable and comfortable working in a supportive housing environment for vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities:Maintenance & Repairs
Perform routine and emergency maintenance tasks including plumbing electrical heating appliance repair and general handyman work.
Conduct regular inspections of apartments common areas and building systems.
Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
Building & Grounds Management
Keep common areas clean safe and well-maintained.
Ensure garbage removal and recycling compliance.
Maintain mechanical rooms tools and building equipment in working condition.
Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with housing codes safety standards and fire prevention regulations.
Respond to emergencies promptly including after-hours incidents.
Support pest control and sanitation efforts.
Resident & Staff Interaction
Communicate respectfully with residents including families experiencing housing instability.
Coordinate with shelter operations and social service teams.
Support smooth apartment turnover between residents.
Administrative
Maintain logs of completed maintenance inspections and supply inventories.
Work collaboratively with vendors inspectors and contractors as needed.
Attend staff meetings and safety trainings.
High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical certifications preferred.
At least 3 years of experience in building maintenance or facilities management (residential or supportive housing preferred).
Basic knowledge of plumbing electrical HVAC painting and general repair work.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Must pass a background check and provide references.
Must live on-site in provided superintendent apartment.
Salary: $50000 per year
Housing: Rent-free private apartment on-site (utilities included)

Full-time with flexibility for on-call coverage during evenings weekends and holidays.
Some overtime may be required in emergency or inclement weather situations.
