Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Production the Properties Supervisor is responsible for the props construction maintenance and management for the Department of Theatre and Dance. A typical 14-week semester includes three mainstage productions three studio productions and class-based and student-led performance projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the fabrication of props elements and lead and supervise staff and student workers to ensure the successful operations of prop activities for Theatre and Dance.
Collaborate with the design team and other production departments to fulfill prop elements of productions. Attend all production meetings.
Organize lead and provide delegation of all work in the prop department for each performance. Supervise in the running of performances. Supervise assist and delegate in the load in and strike of performances.
Maintain a clean and organized storage area. Maintain all tools equipment and supplies.
Coordinate distribution and return of props as required for THDN productions and other CART activities. Maintain props tools and equipment inventories.
Create and maintain show budgets for rentals materials and overhire needs.
Manage external prop rental operation including inventory pulls shipping invoicing contracts pricing and payment.
Implement and manage safety procedures for the use of prop weapons in conjunction with Director of Production Production Combat Coordinator and University Police.
Serve as Instructor of Record for one Stage Properties class (THTR 248/358) each semester.
Work proactively and cooperatively with other technical teams to ensure the success of productions. Attend technical and dress rehearsals and performances as scheduled.
Cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment for student designers and student technical workers
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of three years of experience working as a Props Supervisor or related experience.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings.
Proficiency with Google Suite and Adobe Suite.
Ability to lift 50lbs. and climb ladders.
General understanding of current best health and safety practice within the US Theatre Industry.
Valid Drivers License and competency in driving a cargo van and 26 box truck.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED:
Scenic painting design upholstery and construction skills.
Familiarity with 3D printers laser cutters and large format printers.
Experience with Vectorworks SketchUp AutoCAD and ability to learn new software.
Experience managing show properties budgets.
Experience in an educational production environment and student mentorship.
OSHA 10 and/or First Aid Training certifications.

Salary Range
