This is a new program which will complement the current NCTA Applied Medical Science Program for students looking for a different medically-based pathway from the NAC route. Medical Assisting will run from 3-5:30 Mon - Fri. To learn more about the NCTA programs take a look at the website .
The Medical Assisting instructor is responsible for cultivating and delivering comprehensive instruction while effectively overseeing the operations of the NCTA Pre-Medical Assisting Program ensuring alignment with the state of Washington standards. This program is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel as competent entry-level healthcare professionals in the capacity of medical assistants while also laying the groundwork for their seamless transition into post-secondary education or apprenticeship training and certification.
Central to the instructors responsibilities will be the facilitation of engaging and impactful learning experiences that prepare students to meet the demands of the healthcare industry with proficiency and confidence. Additionally the instructor will play a vital role in coordinating both on-site and off- site student laboratory placements and forging partnerships with healthcare institutions such as hospitals medical clinics and long-term care facilities.
Course content includes medical terminology anatomy/physiology infection control/sterilization vital signs/health history legal and ethical concepts related to ambulatory healthcare medication administration and pharmacy knowledge of medical front office functions introduction to insurance and electronic billing processes medical assisting theory and application to medical assisting clinical practice critical thinking and teamwork.
There is an expectation to work NCTA summer school if offered - approximately 14 days for additional pay.
