Job Description

The Graphic Designer role for Inkblot Marketing is responsible for creating visually compelling materials that promote ASUN initiatives Tier 1 funded clubs events and services across digital and print media. This role requires strong design skills creativity attention to detail and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team under tight deadlines. Inkblot Designers are expected to uphold ASUNs brand identity while using their creative freedom to produce original impactful visuals that resonate with the student body and enhance campus engagement.

We expect students to learn in their positions during their time in the CSE. We want this to be a learning experience to help further develop students for their potential field of interests. There will be review of work to help make sure both ASUN and Accessibility standards are met.

Inkblot Marketings primary mission is to serve as the publicity unit for the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN). The department works to promote the program services issues opportunities and images of the ASUN government to the student body and surrounding community. Inkblot is a service for all ASUN Clubs and Organizations that get on-campus event (Tier 1) funding from ASUN. The service provides graphic design and layout advertisements for the Nevada Sagebrush flyers brochures programs t-shirts Social Media branding guidance and promotional items (i.e. Professional photo video etc).

Responsibilities

  • Work quickly and be able to finish projects under assigned time constraints and deadlines

  • Conceptualize design campaigns

  • Maintain the Center for Student Engagement image as well as the University image in designs

  • Create a design that gives a campus message

  • Follow established timelines for project completion

  • Follow all Inkblot University and ASUN Standards

  • Attend weekly staff meetings

  • Hold Account Coordinators accountable to your own project deadlines materials necessary and up-to-date and relevant information.

  • Use Inkblot-approved templates when starting a new design or project

  • Keep all internal folders organized and up to date

  • Backup design files into office servers on a monthly basis

  • Practice proper file management/formatting and have high standards for organization

  • Properly format files for output to print vendors

  • Contribute and assist in overall marketing efforts

  • Attend regular marketing meetings

  • Share regular progress updates with necessary parties

  • Maintain all professional communications with a TIMELY response to staff inquiries

  • Communicate regularly with the Team and Client over our project management software

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate has an understanding basic design concepts: layout type color balance form value shape and line

  • Candidate has prior or current experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Applications Such as Illustrator Photoshop Express Etc.

  • Candidate has prior or current experience with Canva

  • Candidate has excellent communication skills both written and oral

  • Candidate demonstrates an invested interest in expanding all forms of design

  • Candidate has knowledge of proper color use printing practices and layout

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate has a working knowledge of ASUN Inkblot and University policies and why they exist

  • Candidate demonstrates an understanding of the Marketing field

  • Candidate can utilize typography layout and illustration skills to create original design materials
