OVERVIEW
Refrigerators ranges and microwave ovens are just a few of the thousands of products we test at Consumer Reports. With over 130 testing and research experts and 63 state of the art labs our Westchester headquarters is the largest nonprofit educational and consumer product testing center in the world.
Reporting to the Manager Test Technicians and working in our lab environment the Technician independently conducts simple to complex tests on multiple categories of consumer kitchen appliances. If you are tech savvy and driven by a curiosity to understand how things work this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
This position requires you to work onsite at our facility in Yonkers New York. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
How Youll Make An Impact
Our test results and recommendations help consumers make critical and informed buying decisions.Sometimes they even encourage individual companies to improve their competitive advantage by meeting CRs test standards in their own QA departments.
As a Test Technician youll test products according to documented and establishedprocesses. This includes checking calculating and recording your findings while checking foranomalies in data and performance. Your responsibilities will include reviewing the data andapproaches used by your colleagues and as needed preparing maintaining and calibratingour testing devices and equipment. When we test new products or categories yourcategory expertise will help us develop new methodologies and test protocols.
ABOUT YOU
Youll Be Highly Rated If:
- You have lab and testing experience. Were looking for someone with 1-2 years
conducting product testing in a laboratory or test environment.
You have a strong technical aptitude and can analyze interpret and
communicate test results.
You understand the synergy when form meets function. Youre able to apply
your understanding of complex products in terms of their design and purpose.
You are deadline driven. You have worked towards and consistently met rigid
time timelines when completing projects.
You are computer proficient in Excel and G-Suite program

You have an engineering degree. Bonus points for those with a STEM bachelors degree.
Youre connected. You have experience testing tinkering with different kitchen appliances.
You are a clear communicator. You can share your findings clearly and concisely verbally and in writing.
FAIR PAY AND A JUST WORKPLACE
At Consumer Reports we are committed to fair transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive market-informed target salary range for this position is $70970.54K-$75K. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidates particular combination of knowledge skills competencies and experience.
