About the Role

Hunter Local Land Services (LLS) is seeking a passionate and skilled Senior Land Services Officer Climate Smart Agriculture to lead the delivery of a Natural Heritage Trust Funded project. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to supporting landholders improving landscape health and driving sustainable agricultural productivity.

Youll work directly with farmers landholders and community groups to promote Climate-Smart Agricultural practices tailored to the Hunter region. Through on-farm demonstrations tailored extension and peer-to-peer learning youll help build social and environmental resilience while fostering stronger networks and proactive decision-making.

Your work will include:

  • Providing timely and effective frontline advisory and extension services.
  • Manage natural resources management and agricultural productivity projects ensuring best practice governance.
  • Collect and collate data analyse information and provide accurate and appropriately balanced advice reports and recommendations on natural resource management and agricultural issues.
  • Facilitate group discussions and build community capacity.
  • Establish and enhance established landholder groups and develop landholder-driven demonstrations
  • Build partnership and support collaboration to address natural resource management and agricultural productivity issues.
  • Interpreting and implementing relevant legislation such as the Local Land Services Act 2013 and the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016.
  • Contributing to emergency management response and recovery efforts.

Our Ideal Candidate

Youre a confident communicator and problem solver whos comfortable navigating the field and the policy environment. You bring strong project leadership skills and experience working with rural communities on land management or agricultural challenges.

What Youll Need

  • A degree in agriculture environmental or natural resource management biosecurity emergency management or a related fieldor equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in agricultural extension and community engagement.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills.
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to pass a Police Check and Medical Assessment.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of agricultural and natural resource management issues.
  • Proven experience working with and providing on-ground extension services to landholders.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and deliver evidence-based advice.
