Job Description:

JOB DUTIES: Under direction of the Bighorn Sheep Program Manager this position will monitor the Nebraska bighorn sheep population using standard and emerging methods of observation and analysis. They will study and monitor disease issues between domestic sheep and wild bighorn sheep to sustain and/or increase the bighorn sheep population in Nebraska. This position will participate in local and national working groups pertaining to wild and domestic sheep management make recommendations regarding bighorn sheep management and complete other duties as assigned.


Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree in fish or wildlife management or closely related field or equivalent experience in the field of biological science AND three years experience in fish or wildlife management or a closely related field; OR Masters degree in fish or wildlife management or closely related field or equivalent experience in the field of biological science AND one year experience in fish and wildlife management or a closely related field.


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: Working knowledge of wildlife and habitat management principles goals objectives and techniques ecological principles and species life histories and habitat needs. Basic knowledge of budgeting processes and record keeping systems. Solid computer skills especially Microsoft Office and ArcGIS. Ability to communicate effectively plan set goals and prioritize work. Ability to perform heavy physical labor and work outdoors for long periods of time; operate and maintain various tools. Ability to guide the work of others and develop and maintain professional relations with a broad range of agencies and constituents.
