Job Description

River Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Administrative Medical Assistant to join our outpatient clinic team! In this role you will support both medical records management and front-end administrative functions. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate and confidential patient records supporting patient scheduling and performing general clerical duties to ensure smooth clinic operations. Strong organizational skills attention to detail and commitment to patient confidentiality are key to success in this role. Job Purpose
Responsibilities of this position include organizing and maintaining both paper and electronic medical records supporting patient scheduling operating the clinic switchboard assisting with mail distribution and maintaining clinic files and documentation systems. This role also includes supporting front-desk operations through appointment scheduling and providing professional phone-based customer service to patients and staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 13 years prior experience in medical records outpatient clinic or healthcare office support roles
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • PC and keyboard skills required
  • Proficiency using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • Accurate clerical and data entry skills and good organizational skills
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups including physicians Advanced Practice Providers nurses therapists patients and families

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a hospital outpatient clinic or physician office setting
  • Experience with medical transcription or similar documentation roles
  • Familiarity with insurance Medicare and Medicaid practices
  • Prior experience as a Scheduler Medical Assistant (MA) or Nursing Assistant (NA)
