Job Description

As a Laboratory Assistant you will be an integral part of a collaborative team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers. If you are looking for a company that is constantly moving forward in pursuit of successful outcomes get ready to love it here!

Hours: Casual (Hours are 0730-1230 no weekends; no Statutory holidays)

What youll be doing:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Set-up and monitor tests as appropriate
  • Identify patient receive sample and explain collection procedure
  • Process samples according to lab procedures
  • Performs specific tests on urine as required
  • Label and sort specimens
  • Administrative tasks including logging information order entry reporting data processing filing and retrieving records
  • Perform proper infection prevention and control strategies/processes
  • Appropriate preparation of kits/agents
  • Commitment to working within Homewoods Health and Safety Standards

What were looking for:

  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant Program with 1 to 2 years related experience or; equivalent hands on experience
  • Registered with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science and/or OSMT preferred
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment (centrifuge) and methods for packaging specimens and venipuncture
  • Computer skills
