Employment status: Permanent Full-time
Classification: Municipal Officer Level 5
Agreement: Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2024
Salary range: $119423 to $129372 per annum 13.5% superannuation.
You will also receive private use / commuter rights of a motor vehicle car spot plus laptop iPad and mobile phone. Check with the relevant manager about this as it is also required for the contract.

About the role
This role contributes to the success of the City by playing a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality road services for all users.
You will lead a team responsible for responding to customer enquiries conducting road inspections and assessing development applications that impact road infrastructure.
The role also oversees third-party works on public roads and provides technical advice on road engineering matters contributing to the safe and efficient management of the citys road network.
Role accountabilities include:
- Assess development proposals and advise on impacts to roads footpaths crossovers and street lighting.
- Prepare detailed reports and submissions on road infrastructure and road reserve matters.
- Lead strategic planning initiatives including the development of road management plans and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation such as the DDA.
- Oversee the application of policies by-laws and standards to ensure effective road network management.
- Manage road hazard inspections recommend service level adjustments and support maintenance planning.
- Respond to public enquiries with clear accurate information regarding road infrastructure.
- Supervise inspections and approvals for road-related permits ensuring construction standards are met and infrastructure is protected.
- Provide leadership and support to staff fostering a culture of engagement development and high-quality service delivery.

About you
Youre a qualified Civil Engineer (or hold an equivalent degree) with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in the field and hold a current full Drivers Licence. You are ready to jump into the role where you can make a real impact from day one.
