Job Description
The CTE firefighting teacher will assume responsibility for guiding students 10th through 12 grades into entry-level employment in fire science and/or first responder careers by teaching a sequence of courses in the Emergency and Fire Management Services program including preparation for state and national industry certifications and credentials.
Course standards include but is not limited to the following units of study:
- FIRE SERVICE AND FIREFIGHTER SAFETY
- FIRE DEPARTMENT COMMUNICATIONS
- BUILDING CONSTRUCTION
- FIRE DYNAMICS
- FIREFIGHTER PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
- PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
- ROPES AND KNOTS
- GROUND LADDERS
- FORCIBLE ENTRY
- STRUCTURAL SEARCH AND RESCUE
- TACTICAL VENTILATION
- HOSE OPERATIONS AND HOSE STREAMS
- FIRE SUPPRESSION
- NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM-INCIDENT COMMAND
- HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AWARENESS
