Job Description

BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST

KIPP MA is looking for a dynamic committed and flexible school-based behavior analyst to perform behavioral analysis and intervention support for general education students and students receiving specialized education services in grades K-8. The KIPP MA school-based behavior analyst will work closely with school mental health practitioners school based student support teams school leaders and teachers at the Boston campus to execute a tiered approach to behavior support at the school level. This position is part-time and reports to the KIPP MA Managing Director of Student Supports. The ideal candidate will work with our team to amplify our childrens potential by creating a school experience that affirms values and challenges students each day. They will also seek to create a professional and authentic environment of joy excellence care and community where educators can make long-term transformative outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities

Behavior assessment and intervention

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBA) and/or brief Functional Analysis (FA).

  • Conduct preference assessments.

  • Discuss results of the FBA and the proposed BIP with the school-based staff.

  • Use the result of the FBA to create a function-based behavior intervention plan (BIP).

Data collection

  • Select appropriate data collection tools to measure target and replacement behaviors.

  • Select appropriate data collection tools to measure treatment fidelity.

  • Graph and monitor data for BIP to assess procedure effectiveness on a daily basis.

  • Identify trends in the data and report stagnant and increasing trends in the target behaviors.

  • Analyzes data on a weekly basis to develop training goals.

Staff supervision & training

  • Provides training to staff members regarding classroom behavior management techniques.

  • Provides staff and parent training regarding techniques for remediation of behavioral social or personal problems of students.

  • Provides training to staff members on implementing BIPs Updates school-based staff on best practices and adjustments connected to current cases.

Campus supports

  • Understands the mission of KIPP MA and those of each individual campus and delivers services in a way that aligns with the schools program.

  • Meets with campus-based CSTs and special education teams to discuss concerns answer questions review complex cases and support them in finding solutions.

  • Works collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary Clinical Team. Engages parents in a collaborative and compassionate manner that supports student progress.

General Requirements and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to collect and interpret data evaluate reason define problems establish facts draw valid conclusions and make reasonable judgments and decisions in a timely manner in accordance with the needs of the school

  • Self-awareness flexibility and emotional intelligence to navigate a setting with students who express diverse needs

  • The consistent use of interpersonal and self-management skills to effectively support behavioral and emotional needs of students to ensure a safe and inclusive environment as well as build relationships and manage conflict with students staff and caregivers

  • Effective communication skills to perform assigned duties and to meaningfully exchange information with students staff families and others in person through written communication in front of groups and on virtual platforms

  • Physical mobility to move self in various positions in order to execute duties effectively which may include kneeling walking pushing/pulling squatting twisting turning bending stooping and reaching overhead

  • Physical strength sufficient to periodically lift and/or carry 20 pounds of materials or supplies and to physically restrain a student to keep from harming themself and/or others in an emergency situation

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive hand/wrist/arm motions and to operate a computer and office equipment

KIPP MA staff are supported in their demanding work by experienced and dedicated leadership and staff who have themselves proven successful in their role. Our KIPP MA Executive Leadership Teams maintain consistent systems and procedures designed to permit staff to do their best work. 

In addition to the responsibilities listed above there will occasionally be other duties as assigned that staff will engage in to help promote a positive and safe learning environment and culture.


Qualifications :

Qualifications

  • Deep alignment with KIPP MAs mission and values including the unwavering belief in the high potential of all students

  • Ability to communicate clearly and to invest stakeholders in student goals

  • Ability to establish relationships with students staff and families

  • Solution orientation and ability to bring a new lens to challenging problems

  • A high level of organization skills and attention to detail

  • Master Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst

  • 2-3 years experience working with children adolescents and families using behavior analytic technology across a variety of diagnoses

  • Knowledge of brief functional analysis techniques ability to conduct Functional Behavior Analysis (FBA) Expertise in developing writing implementing and training staff around behavior intervention plans (BIPs)

  • Computer literacy and baseline familiarity with Google Suite

  • Pass Criminal Background Checks

What We Offer

The minimum salary for this exempt position is $65000 (per 1.0 FTE/45 hours). The role includes a $1000 signing bonusand an annual $2000 retention bonus in subsequent years as well as other bonuses when eligible.
