The Employment and Incentives team is looking for an Employment Managing Associate with at least 5PQE.
The work we do in the team either makes the headlines or is too confidential to make it. It is high-profile technical and extremely commercially sensitive. It gives us access to the most senior people at clients and their stakeholders including Chairs C-suite other Board members and General Counsel.
The London Employment & Incentives team has a dedicated team for each side of the practice. As a dedicated employment lawyer you would work alongside specialised incentives and remuneration lawyers enabling our practice to deliver the highest quality of technical expertise to our clients.
Our team is innovative and creative in its thought leadership knowledge sharing and learning. This role provides the opportunity for you to work alongside some of the most entrepreneurial intelligent and commercially attuned employment lawyers in the market on the most cutting-edge and reputable employment and people-related mandates and transactions.
About you
You have at least 5 years relevant employment post-qualification experience (for overseas lawyers this would be after any adjustment to account for the UK two-year training).
You have strong organisational skills and can manage multiple matters proactively both independently and as part of a team.
You want to work in a team which is collaborative respectful and supportive with an appetite for technical excellence cutting-edge mandates creative thought leadership and entrepreneurial business development.
Your role
The key areas of work you would be involved in are:
Private and public M&A;
Private equity;
Reorganisations/restructurings;
Corporate advisory;
Strategic and high-profile people and culture related mandates including workplace investigations senior appointments and exits conduct issues and high-stakes employment litigation.
Within each of these areas key responsibilities will include drafting reviewing and negotiation of documents internal and external transaction and project management chairing internal and external meetings client relationship management exercising commercial acumen and business development activities with existing and potential clients. You will be the first point of contact for many clients and lawyers in other offices. Advisory work will also involve advising Blue Chip and FTSE clients on corporate governance and continuing obligations.
As a Managing Associate you will continue to hone your technical skills but the focus of your development becomes much more about managing teams building client relationships and developing detailed and specialist knowledge of products and/or sectors as well as managing junior associates.
You will have opportunities to play an active role in developing the practices relationship with and strategy towards its key and target clients and get involved in creative thought leadership and business development opportunities.
