About the role

  • Provide advanced Occupational Therapy services to acute stroke and neuroscience inpatients using evidence-based assessments and interventions tailored to individual patient needs.

  • Manage complex clinical presentations independently applying advanced clinical reasoning and modifying standard practices to achieve optimal outcomes.

  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives and service evaluations to enhance Occupational Therapy practice within the stroke and neurosciences specialty.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including the Stroke Unit Director and Acute Care leadership to ensure coordinated patient-centred care aligned with clinical guidelines.

  • Provide specialist advice and mentorship to Occupational Therapists across St Vincents and wider networks contributing to professional development knowledge sharing and service excellence.

About you

  • Youre a qualified and AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist with a Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy bringing specialist clinical expertise and extensive experience in Stroke and Neurosciences rehabilitation.

  • Skilled in applying advanced clinical reasoning to both routine and complex cases demonstrating independent professional judgement and a strong understanding of acute care processes.

  • A confident leader with experience supervising staff and students supporting professional growth while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.

  • Actively involved in planning and delivering quality improvement projects and research initiatives with a focus on enhancing service delivery and driving innovation in Stroke/Neurosciences care.

  • A clear communicator with excellent written verbal interpersonal and negotiation skills committed to the values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincents Health Australia and holding a current unrestricted NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
