TSS is proud to partner with Yilgarn Iron to secure the best talent for the restart and ongoing operations of the recently acquired iron ore assets in the Yilgarn hub.
Yilgarn Iron is a privately owned Australian mining company focused on restarting and responsibly operating a portfolio of historic hematite iron ore assets in Western Australias Yilgarn region. The companys assets include Koolyanobbing Windarling Parker Range and adjacent tenements all hosted within structurally complex BIF sequences typical of the Southern Cross Greenstone Belt.
About the Role:
This is a crucial leadership position overseeing the transition from care and maintenance to full production. The GM will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and take responsibility for statutory operational and safety compliance ensuring that site operations are managed efficiently and in accordance with all legislative environmental and operational requirements.
As GM you will be instrumental in driving operational efficiencies ensuring cost discipline and making data-driven decisions. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary leadership team and foster a culture of safety accountability and high performance.
A key part of the role will be overseeing rehabilitation efforts shaping landforms to be safe stable and non-polluting. This includes managing drainage control sedimentation traps ponds and the encapsulation of potentially polluting materials to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
Lead the safe execution of all site operations.
Oversee contractor performance and site-wide safety compliance.
Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team (geology mining maintenance HSE processing materials and logistics admin).
Implement cost tracking systems and drive operational efficiencies.
Manage site environmental compliance tenement reporting and rehabilitation activities focusing on safe stable and non-polluting landforms.
Oversee drainage control sedimentation traps ponds and encapsulation of potentially polluting materials.
Key Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in mining engineering geology or related discipline (preferred).
Unrestricted Quarry Managers Certificate of Competency (WA).
Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
Deep understanding of WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022 and SMS.
Proven experience in iron ore operations.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams in a fast-paced environment.
