Job Duties
This position will provide executive level leadership and direction to the staff in the Office of Data Services the Office of Systems Development and Databases the Office of Information Security and the Office of Technology (also known as DRTS) the Office of Accreditation and the Office of Operations (Transportation Facilities School Nutrition). These offices are responsible for conducting objective analyses and scientifically-sound research in support of the agencys strategic goals and objectives while also developing and maintaining the custom-built single sign-on system housing more than 150 customized applications to meet the agencys business needs. This position is responsible for coordinating the internal operations of the agency including supporting any building related moves and relocations.
This leader will help streamline internal processes reduce bureaucracy and support effective data governance focused on student outcomes. This role will help implement internal policies that strengthen agency transparency cost-effectiveness and responsiveness to the Board of Education General Assembly and constituents.
This position is responsible for maintaining the departments databases reporting educational information collected by the department and calculating and reporting state and federal accountability results. This position ensures compliance with state and federal reporting requirements and supports the agency and publics use of data and research.
As the agencys Chief Information Officer (CIO) this position is responsible for providing technology support to the agency that includes hardware and software needs while overseeing the agencys AITR and work with VITA. Finally this position is responsible for managing and administering IT procurements and supporting the agency Chief Information Security Officer (the CISO reports to the Chief Operations Officer). This role will work closely with the Deputy Superintendent of Innovation Student Pathways and Opportunities to lead the agencys strategy on K-12 education technology ensuring schools have modern tools while maintaining local control. This role must support cybersecurity and digital infrastructure that protects student data minimizes risk and respects privacy.
This position provides executive level leadership and direction to the Operations team which includes transportation facilities school nutrition. This leader will help direct initiatives that strengthen the physical and digital security of schools in partnership with the Department of Criminal Justice Services ensuring students and staff can learn and work in safe environments which includes better preparedness for and responding to threats with a strong emphasis on prevention deterrence and parent communication. Promotes practical safety measures and best practices for safeguarding school safety and physical security in partnership with the Office of Excellence and Best addition this position seeks to identify ways to reduce red tape and promote infrastructure strategies that prioritize durability cost savings and long-term sustainability.
This position leads as the agencys point of leadership for operational continuity emergency preparedness and statewide response to natural disasters public health events and safety addition this position leads continuity planning coordinating across state agencies and local systems to ensure rapid efficient and commonsense solutions in crisis situations.
This position will support the oversight of the Accreditation model for school division. Ensure all administrative financial and operational elements are upheld by divisions with high standards and serve students. Encourage innovation that serves student achievement and operational integrity to improve school operations.
