As a key member of the Corporate Payroll Operations team the Senior Payroll Specialist will be working in a fast-paced dynamic environment building relationships within the corporate accounting and HR teams within the U.S. and with the larger organization (e.g. Treasury Legal GL Internal Audit etc.What You Can Expect
The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for payroll processing analysis of employee compensation and benefits related to payroll operations. This is an exciting role with considerable opportunities.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Ensure accurate compliant and timely payroll processing for US domestic locations.
Enter and verify new hire data in payroll systems (e.g. ADP Workday) ensure accurate tax setup benefits enrollment and state/local jurisdiction registration as applicable.
Resolve discrepancies between HRIS and payroll platforms to ensure seamless onboarding and first payroll accuracy.
Import and verify employee 401(k) deferral and match elections from third-party providers (e.g. Schwab) ensuring timely updates in payroll systems and alignment with payroll cycles and compliance requirements.
Prepare detailed reports schedules and documentation to support annual 401(k) plan audits ensure accuracy of deferral match and loan data; reconcile contributions against payroll records; and respond to auditor and plan administrator inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Assist working with third party payroll providers to ensure that all monthly quarterly and annual payroll tax filings are met. Ensure all local statutory payroll and fringe benefit reporting requirements are met.
Facilitate and perform regular payroll audits and assist preparing supporting schedules for external auditors.
Providing excellent payroll support to all employees and cross-functional teams by addressing inquiries concerns and requests.
Ensure compliance with federal state local and international tax and wage & hour laws regulations or guidelines including payroll tax registrations.
Special projects including process documentation and improvements system updates integrations upgrades or implementations.
Follow and maintain internal control policies procedures and compliance with respect to the payroll process.
Recognizing opportunities and recommending scalable processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency while maintaining accuracy.
What Were Looking For
7 years experience with U.S. payroll in a multi-state environment and minimum 1000 employee base including solid knowledge of payroll principles rules and regulations and with demonstrated strong payroll technical skills in a variety of areas including payroll processing reporting payroll taxes accounting related to payroll etc.
Strength in using Excel including formulas and functions (Vlookups and Pivot tables).
Ability to effectively analyze large amounts of data and present key findings to management.
A self-starter with the ability to work independently but also flexible working with a team yet can complete tasks under limited supervision.
Effective problem solver with strong analytical skills.
System experience with ADP Workforce Now and Workday are strongly preferred.
Ability to prioritize and to work to very tight deadlines.
Ability to function in a highly confidential environment.
Proven ability to partner with cross-functional teams including legal HR tax accounting and finance.
Expected Base Pay Range (USD)
31 - 47 $ per hour.The successful candidates starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills experience qualifications work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
