We are seeking individuals who demonstrate these values for an Animal Care Specialist Position. As an Animal Care Specialist you can count on becoming not just part of a growing company but a family.
POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:
The Animal Care Specialist is responsible for providing support to the breeding or farrowing teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Tasks are dependent upon the department but may include:
- Provide care for animals ensuring they have access to food water and a comfortable environment
- Assist with movement of animals
- Treat and vaccinate animals
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Assist in power washing
- Promote a safe work environment
- Maintain PQA certification status (provided on the job)
- Follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures
- Exhibit strong teamwork including working to achieve team goals embracing new technologies working on new projects etc.
- Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation

- Advocate and engage in SFIs animal welfare policy including promoting animal well-being remedying circumstances which impede animal care and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse
