Mid-Level Quality Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level)

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Quality Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) in Fairfax VA.

To be successful in this role you must be enthusiastic proactive and self-directed to help oversee and assist in the day-to-day operational support.

This position has the primary responsibility to ensure the as-built configuration of products meets all design and contract requirements including contract and product design reviews First Article Inspection (FAI) processing Purchase Request (PR) processing for the inclusion of applicable supplier purchase contract requirements performing product investigations and supporting nonconformance management.

This position requires a Bachelors degree in one of the following relevant fields of study:

Position Responsibilities:

Level 2:

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans anticipate future events and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for ones actions. Exhibits a moral legal or mental accountability in areas of responsibility.
  • Discovers new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking. Tries different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities.
  • Effectively plan what is to be achieved and involve all relevant stakeholders. Anticipate important or critical events identifying resource requirements and assigning responsibility for specific work including deadlines and performance expectations. Demonstrate the use of information -gathering techniques analyzing situations and identifying implications in order to make correct decisions. Demonstrate ability to monitor progress and to make changes as required.

Level 3:

  • Demonstrates a willingness to accept responsibility and accountability for ones actions. Exhibits a moral legal or mental accountability in areas of responsibility
  • Skill and ability to: collect organize synthesize and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Ability to read understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (e.g. blueprint/schematic reading specification change design).
  • Knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g. design test software technology avionics). Knowledge of the interaction between departments/disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g. Operations Logistics Business).
  • Knowledge of tool functions and capabilities (e.g. indexing fixturing handling) to support the manufacturing processes and flow.
  • Knowledge of quality systems (e.g. inspection process Boeing quality procedures).
  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g. system sub-system software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field of study
  • 1 years of experience performing product inspection
  • 1 years of experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
  • 3 years of experience performing data analysis
  • 1 years of experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCCA) and Corrective Action
  • 1 years of experience with quality systems (e.g. Boeing Quality Management System (BQMS) International Organization for Standardization (ISO9001) Aerospace Standard (AS9100)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 3: More than 3 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • FOD (Foreign Object Debris/Damage experience

Travel:

This position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Summary Pay Range for mid-level (Level 3): USD $94350 - $127650
