Position Overview:
The Underground Construction Coordinator will play a critical leadership role in the successful planning execution and oversight of underground construction projects within the SUFCO Mine. This position requires a proactive results-oriented individual with a strong background in construction management particularly in industrial or mining settings. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are delivered safely on time within budget and in compliance with all regulatory and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day management of underground construction activities ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Develop and implement detailed project plans budgets and schedules in collaboration with internal teams and external contractors.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts with engineering operations maintenance health and safety and third-party vendors.
- Ensure strict adherence to MSHA regulations safety protocols and company policies throughout all construction activities.
- Administer procurement processes vendor negotiations and contract management for construction-related services and supplies.
- Monitor project performance through site inspections progress reporting and risk assessments.
- Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies proactively.
- Provide clear timely and accurate reports to senior leadership on project status costs and key milestones.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement safety excellence and collaboration among construction crews and contractors
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering Mining or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 8 years of progressive experience in underground construction or project management with a strong preference for mining or heavy industrial environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with a strong focus on safety quality and efficiency.
- Proficient in project management tools and software (e.g. MS Project Primavera AutoCAD).
- Exceptional organizational leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of underground construction methods materials and best practices.
- Strong understanding of applicable regulatory and safety compliance standards including MSHA.
