Hardware Engineer
In this role you would support all Bealls Inc.s locations and their hardware-related needs. We lead and participate in overnight rollouts that lead to chain-wide upgrades working with remote-techs via phone and sometimes directly direct store management and personnel to troubleshoot existing equipment in the field create and assist in testing new proof-of-concept devices and work to maintain both local and vendor support inventory.
Responsibilities
- Become intimately familiar with all Bealls Inc. and their various hardware related needs.
- Configure and participate in new store and upgrade store processes.
- Support overnight rollouts involving chain wide upgrades track progress and communicate with daytime management and support teams.
- Ticket Work:
- Work with remote techs to assist in installation and maintenance tasks.
- Remotely direct and guide store management in troubleshooting existing equipment in the field.
- Create and assist in testing new proof-of-concept devices.
- Maintain inventory and an organized work area.
- Assist in basic cleanup tasks and perform regular inventory and location maintenance.
- Configure install and maintain Point of Sale components including but not limited to terminals scanners printers cash drawers and payment devices.
- Collaborate with other departments and vendors to ensure seamless integration and performance of retail Point of Sale environment.
- Monitor system performance to proactively address anomalies.
- Occasional travel (reimbursed) to retail locations for special installations or VIP point of sale support
Requirements
- Strong experience with Windows 10 and newer operating systems and troubleshooting them.
- English fluency and strong communicator with a customer-centric mindset
- Ability to read write and review clear and concise technical documentation.
- Comfort using Office 365 suite and Sharepoint / Teams environment.
- Ability to work independently but also be a team player.
- Experience working with an ITSM (ticketing) system.
- Experience and familiarity with troubleshooting network connectivity issues
- Detailed problem solver
- Familiarity with Point-of-Sale configuration installation troubleshooting and maintenance is a PLUS.
- Familiarity with running batch files PowerShell scripts ability to write said scripts is a PLUS.
- Lift/move 60-80lbs (physical component to job)
- Work in a warehouse / office hybrid environment (environment is dusty but climate-controlled)
