JOB TITLE: Building Coordinator-High School

Building Operations Department

REPORT TO: Lead PM Supervisor

WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

PAY GRADE: Aux 7


PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under the general supervision of the assigned Lead PM Supervisor and/or school-based administrator the Building Coordinator oversees the custodial staff area assignments setting schedules cleaning in a high school building and performs related work as required or assigned. Maintain custodial standards by following district-trained cleaning procedures. Results will be a safe clean and efficient building environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School graduate or GED
  • 5 years job related experience (minimum 3 as a supervisor of staff)

Preferred:

  • 7 years experience in custodial services
  • 3 years experience in supervisory experience

SPECIAL NOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Knowledge of routine custodial practices and methods.
  • Knowledge of equipment chemicals and materials used in cleaning processes.
  • Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to manage personnel.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Duties:

  • Communicate with campus administration as needed for the purpose of maintaining a clean well-functioning location and completion of custodial work orders.
  • Hire supervise train and evaluate Building Operator and all custodial staff at the assigned location in daily cleaning procedures and projects.
  • Ensure custodial staff understand and meet all requirements of their job.
  • Ensure the Building Operator completes the proper paperwork for custodial staff.
  • Create schedules to ensure the site is cleaned and maintained to district standards.
  • Conduct building inspections and team accountability checks.
  • Correct quality problems.
  • Ensure custodial staff open/close facility and prepare for daily activities/events.
  • Assign custodial staff including for after hour scheduled events.
  • Coordinate set-ups for activities and rentals.
  • Ensure custodial staff are policing grounds and sweeping sidewalks patios and entrances.
  • Oversee cafeteria set-up and clean up.
  • Oversee supply ordering and inventory control.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment clean and operable and training staff on proper use.
  • Be available to staff from all site shifts regarding call outs and site concerns.

Related Duties:

  • Mix chemicals.
  • Dust vents ledges shelves and horizontal surfaces.
  • Wet wipe walls tables desks chalkboards/trays and glass.
  • Disinfect restroom sinks urinals toilets fixtures partitions showers and floors.
  • Polish all chrome.
  • Disinfect public phones and water fountains.
  • Remove carpet spots.
  • Other general custodial duties as assigned by the supervisor including but not limited to moving furniture and equipment and project cleaning.
  • Responding to emergencies or crises in the District.

Type of Equipment Used:

Vacuum cleaner broom dust mop wet mop bucket wringer spray bottles high duster cart small hand tools roto and extractor riding and walk behind scrubbers.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Rubber gloves goggles and apron are required when mixing chemicals.
  • Back support belts should be used when lifting if available.

Audio/Visual Demands:

  • Average hearing
  • Corrected 20/20 vision
  • Good depth perception
  • Ability to distinguish between colors

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: ability to work in a fast-paced high-intensity work environment efficiently and effectively with frequent interruptions maintain emotional control under requirements: High level of standing stooping bending and lifting up to 50lbs.

Overtime is required as necessary.
