Job Description

The Cascade Pacific Council is proud to hire over 250 enthusiastic camp staff members annually to serve in a variety of positions at our 4 resident camps safely delivering adventure to Scouts. Positions include: program area directors and assistants office staff sales staff cooks and maintenance. Whether you are new to scouting or a seasoned scouter all are welcome to apply if they share the same spirit of fun and learning our campers are looking for in the outdoors. Each and every staff member has the power to make a difference in the life of a scout and summer camp is the best place to make it happen.

Mission Statement:
The mission of the Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

We accomplish this at our camps by finding the most motivated and enthusiastic individuals in the area that want to make a difference in young peoples lives through the instruction of games leadership skills and FUN!

HIRING INFORMATION

Qualifications

  • Full-season availability preferred
  • Some outdoor camping experience
  • Enjoy working outside
  • Have a passion for working with youth

General Responsibilities: Resident Camp Staff (General)

  • Maintain a fun welcoming and safe environment for our campers and visitors
  • Set a good example by serving as a role model for campers
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members in a variety of activities and programs
  • Assists campers in activities and program as needed
  • Participate in pre-camp training week
  • Other duties as assigned to specific position or by camp management
  • Perform duties consistent with with the Scout Oath and Law
  • Be familiar with and follow BSA Youth Protection Guide to Safe Scouting and Scouting America safety policies and guidelines

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age when camp starts. (May volunteer as a Staff-in-Training if 15)
  • If hired must register as a member of Scouting America
  • Applicants over age 18 must apply as an adult member and pass a criminal background check
  • Seasonal staff live on site in provided housing
  • Submit a completed application
  • Provide 2 references (not relatives or organization employees)
  • Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification recommended
  • Training available for specialized positions
  • Some Area Director positions require National Camp School certifications training assessed after hiring

Resident Camp Information

Cub Scout Resident Camps serve youth aged 5-10 (Cub Scouts) who attend resident camp with their local Scouting group and leaders. Cub Scout resident camps that the council operates include:

  • Camp Baldwin (east of Mt. Hood) 5-night/6-day sessions 9-10 year olds
  • Butte Creek Scout Ranch 3-night/4-day sessions twice a week 5-9 year olds

Scouts BSA Resident Camps serve youth ages 11-17 (Scouts BSA) who attend resident camp with their local Scouting group and leaders. Scouts BSA Resident Camps are week-long 6-night/7-day programs that include:

  • Camp Baldwin ()
  • Camp Meriwether (Oregon Coast)
  • Camp Pioneer ()
