Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$52612.00

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$56821.00

To attain the maximum annual salary employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

  • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
  • Acombination of related education on-the-job work experience certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position may be considered.

The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

Aims Community College actively supports an environmentthat embraces the Colleges Mission Vision Values and a culture of innovation and care. Under the supervision of the Learning Commons Program Director this position will facilitate student facing technology support for online hybrid remote and flex learners. This position will: collaborate with internal and external partners to support online and remote learning; prepare and distribute online learning resources for students; support online and remote learning; and maintain currency and share practices and resources with faculty and staff. The Online Learning Specialist (OLS) will develop online orientation trainings as well as other trainings for students. The OLS will consult with faculty and the LMS specialist to coordinate services desired by students. Data will be collected analyzed and reported and new trainings and support materials will be offered.

Collaborate with Internal & External Partners to Support Online & Remote Learning: 25%

  • Develop constructive working relationships with online and remote students staff and faculty.
  • Collaborate with the Learning Environments team to stay current with instructional technology and best practices utilized by faculty and the College.
  • Collaborate with Student Affairs and other departments to support the development of related student resources.
  • Collaborate with LMS administrator to problem solve student access and related issues.

Prepare & Distribute Online Learning Resources for Students: 15%

  • Maintain the Online Learner Readiness Assessment Online Student Orientation and related materials.
  • Develop and maintain online learning resources and training modules for students as needed. Make sure resources and training modules meet accessibility standards.

Support Online & Remote Learning: 40%

  • Establish and maintain a presence for student online learning support questions and consultation through phone email and virtual communication.
  • Work in consultation with faculty to identify students needing online/remote support.
  • Provide classroom online and remote student training on the Learning Management System and other academic technology.
  • Provide student referrals to appropriate departments regarding academic and related issues.

Maintain Currency & Share Practices & Resources with Faculty & Staff: 10%

  • Research and identify best practices for providing learning support services to online/remote students.
  • Promote remote learning support services through student events and faculty professional development sessions.
  • Maintain currency on distance learning and educational technology through participation in professional development.
  • Other duties as assigned

Collect Analyze & Report Data Findings: 10%

  • Identify key metrics relevant to the analysis
  • Develop surveys questionnaires interview protocols and observation checklists as means to collect data
  • Interpret findings and translate into useful insights
  • Based on conclusions propose recommendations to the Program Director

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in a related field plus one (1) year of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Work effectively in a team environment.

  • Work independently toward department goals.

  • Prioritize plan and carry out a variety of work tasks.

  • Ability to think critically by applying problem solving practices.

  • Communicate effectively by speaking and writing clearly concisely and professionally.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to satellite campuses.

  • Must be knowledgeable about current education technology practices.

  • Must be knowledgeable about current software including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google products.

  • Must have a good working knowledge about Learning Management System(s) (i.e. D2L or other products).

  • Must have an understanding of current online theory and best practices.

  • Ability to create training materials supplemental materials for online instruction and learning management systems.

  • Understand the educational uses of AI and help students understand the ethical use of AI.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in English Education Communications Social Sciences Business Computer Science Multimedia or other related field.

  • Practical experience in training and development coaching and mentoring.

  • Conflict management and de-escalation abilities
