Job Description

This is a remote position.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00 AM 6:00 PM (Eastern Daylight Time New York)
Break: 1-hour unpaid break
Total Weekly Hours: 40 hours


Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Staff Accountant to lead a remote accounting team and support client financial operations. In this leadership role you will guide accountants maintain high standards of financial accuracy and ensure exceptional service delivery to clients. You ll oversee key accounting processes mentor team members and play a pivotal role in optimizing operations and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a team promoting a collaborative and goal-oriented environment

  • Supervise and review the work of staff accountants providing guidance and feedback

  • Manage priorities across multiple projects while meeting deadlines

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and internal teams via Slack email and phone

  • Participate in and lead weekly client meetings discussing AR AP and cash flow confidently

  • Support the month-end close process including reconciliations financial analysis and reporting

  • Review financial statements workpapers and procedures; recommend and implement improvements

  • Set and manage clear expectations with clients to maintain productive and respectful relationships

  • Maintain and update internal tracking systems (e.g. Airtable) for effective workflow management

  • Lead process transitions when clients adopt new software or platforms

  • Train and mentor staff accountants ensuring consistent quality and team development


Requirements

Technical Skills

Advanced knowledge of:

  • QuickBooks

  • NetSuite


  • E-commerce and merchant platforms (e.g. Amazon Shopify Stripe)

  • Payroll processing

  • Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Cash flow tools

  • Excel (intermediate to advanced)

  • Ability to follow and create workpapers and checklists

Client Management

  • Confident leading AR AP and cash flow meetings

  • Skilled in prioritizing client requests based on urgency and importance

  • Experience with full balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis

  • Strong understanding of client business operations and workflows

Team Management

  • Experience building and managing high-performing teams

  • Ability to train and review work completed by staff accountants

  • Skilled in setting and maintaining team communication and time expectations

  • Proficient in updating internal systems to reflect project status and deadlines

Additional Expectations

  • Follow quality standards using internal templates and processes

  • Participate in ongoing training and development

  • Recommend process improvements for greater efficiency and quality

  • Maintain updated calendar availability to support workload planning
