Temporary Recruitment Enrollment Specialist

BELA Charter School

Brooklyn Emerging Leaders Academy Charter School (BELA) an all-girls high school located in Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn focused on SISTERHOOD SCHOLARSHIP STRENGTH and SERVICE is deeply committed to a 100% of our students completing college. Founded on the belief that academic and life preparation is equally as important; each BELA young woman will embark on her own personal and intellectual journey. Students will empower and uplift while respectfully questioning norms to develop their own identities within their rich cultures and communities. This unique learning environment is designed for educators who are intrigued and motivated by the potential that exist within each of our Bedford Stuyvesant young women and thrives in a start-up atmosphere where outcomes are clearly defined but allows for creativity and risk taking as we define the process to meeting our goals as a school community.

The Role

BELA Charter High School is seeking a passionate community-driven Part-Time Student Recruitment Coordinator to support our efforts in welcoming new families and growing our school community. We are looking for someone to bring invaluable insight care and commitment to this work.

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys engaging with people understands the power of a warm welcome and wants to make an impact in the lives of young women in Brooklyn.

The position is part-time and temporary position;

20 hours per week at a rate of $25 per hour.

Responsibilities:

1. Recruitment & Outreach

  • Support the implementation of BELAs student recruitment plan aligned with enrollment goals.

  • Conduct outreach to middle schools community organizations and local networks.

  • Represent BELA at school fairs tabling events open houses and community meetings.

  • Share BELAs story and mission with prospective families through phone calls one-on-one conversations and events.

  • Log outreach in a recruitment tracker and share updates with the recruitment team.

2. Family Engagement & Onboarding

  • Serve as a welcoming and informative point of contact for prospective families.

  • Assist new families with registration paperwork and onboarding into the BELA community.

  • Coordinate and support family tours info sessions buddy days and shadow visits.

  • Follow up with families who have applied but have not yet accepted or completed enrollment.

  • Help new students and families feel connected and informed prior to the first day of school.

3. Student & Staff Involvement

  • Support the recruitment and coordination of student ambassadors.

  • Collaborate with staff to feature school programs and student life during events and tours.

  • Encourage current BELA families to share the school with their networks.

4. Welcome Center Management

  • Greet and assist all students staff families and visitors with professionalism and warmth.

  • Answer and direct phone calls and emails promptly and accurately.

  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.

  • Maintain a clean organized and welcoming welcome center.

5. Family and Student Communication

  • Serve as a friendly and informed point of contact for family questions and requests.

  • Share key school updates and notices with families in collaboration with the operations and leadership teams.

  • Ensure all communication reflects BELAs values and high standards of care and professionalism.

  • Translate and support multilingual family engagement as needed.
