RN- Professional Development Coordinator
Health Education- UnityPoint Health Fort Dodge
Shift: 28 hours per week
Responsible for activities and efforts to enhance the knowledge and practice and professional development of nursing throughout the hospital. Coordinates activities to improve evidence based practice professional practice and nursing operations with oversight of the Nursing shared governance structures. Responsible for review of documented activities contributing to Pathway to Excellence nursing designation survey coordination and document submission. Assists with activities contributing to improvements for the patient experience.

Coordinates Pathways to Excellence application adherence to Pathway to Excellence standards and ongoing activities to demonstrate compliance to elements of performance.
Facilitates excellence in nursing practice by assisting to integrate magnet/Pathway concepts into clinical practice.
Facilitates shared decision making and coordinates councils under the direction of the Chief Nurse Executive.
Provides leadership for Evidence-based Practice (EBP) activities by preparing information and sharing with nurses and other healthcare providers and assists to skill build opportunities in the EBP process.
Fosters critical thinking about clinical issues to foster nurses use of research in making clinical decisions.
Collaborates with other healthcare providers in the use of evidence in clinical decision-making and mentors staff in using and generating evidence through participating in data-driven decision-making.
Stimulates facilitates and educates staff toward a culture of evidence-based practice (EBP).
Assists staff to disseminate evidence through regional national presentations and peer-review journals and collaborates with librarians to assure all healthcare providers have access to current nursing research publications preferably in electronic format.
Assists with nursing electronic health record training.
Assists with training and coordination of Evidence Based Practice changes.
Develops and facilitates education related to Strategic goals and initiatives including but not limited to exceptional patient experiences.
Collaborates with leadership on the initiatives cultivating an exceptional nursing practice environment.
Collaborates and assists to coordinate employee engagement work.
Assists to facilitate RN orientation.
Develops and facilitates programs identified to improve employee relations teamwork communication decision making and communication among physicians and staff.
Efficient in setup and operations of AV equipment.
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
Masters Degree in Nursing preferred
Experience:
Three years experience with progressive responsibilities and demonstrated leadership abilities as a member of the healthcare team.
Experience in planning and executing curriculum and teaching.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Current RN Licensure in State of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence.
Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills) Ability to work effectively with others solves problems thinks creatively communicates effectively and implements change in a positive manner. Ability to organize do long range planning. Possesses integrity initiative flexibility and effective interpersonal skills.
