Job Description
The Piping Designer III plays a key role in the design and coordination of piping systems under the supervision of the projects Engineer-of-Record. This position involves working on moderately complex design tasks and collaborating closely with architects engineers and other internal and external stakeholders to deliver coordinated constructible and complete designs. The role includes 3D modeling field investigations independent design work and the production of discipline-specific deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients and external partners to ensure alignment on project goals and design standards.
- Plan and execute piping design tasks across all project phases.
- Participate in early-stage conceptual system planning and layout development.
- Support the creation of early-phase deliverables such as use point maps utility routing plans and stacking diagrams.
- Take increasing responsibility for mechanical distribution system design using CAD and engineering software in accordance with CRBs VDC standards.
- Contribute to a wide range of mechanical design tasks including feasibility studies scope and concept development detailed design construction documentation and construction administration.
- Conduct field investigations and site visits as needed to support project execution and client development.
- Assist with 3D modeling and design perform redline-to-final drawing updates and produce high-quality discipline deliverables.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate efficient and coordinated project outcomes.
Qualifications :
- Associate degree in a relevant technical field technical trade school certification or equivalent experience in an architectural engineering or construction firm.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in piping design including field experience in either a design or construction capacity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Revit Plant 3D or CADWorx (Revit preferred).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with discipline-specific codes and industry standards.
- Basic understanding of building codes and their application in design.
- Experience developing and implementing HVAC mechanical utility equipment and piping systems in real-world environments.
- Knowledge of cGMPs and/or experience with advanced technology projects (e.g. R&D labs biotechnology pharmaceutical food & nutrition or consumer products) is preferred.
