Administrative and Communications Specialist

Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN)

Pay rate: $26.50 - $27.50

The Opportunity Alliance is looking to fill a new Administrative and Communications Specialist position with our Maine Youth Action Network (MYAN) program.

MYAN is a statewide network of committed adults and passionate young people who believe in the transformative power of youth leadership.

MYANs vision is for communities throughout Maine to foster the healthy development of youth and create a thriving network of engaged leaders. MYAN provides growth opportunities and technical assistance to young people and adults across the state. Thew work of this program is rooted in positive youth development and a strengths-based approach. We support young people seeking to improve their communities or drive social change and adults who want to improve their practice and engage young people in positive new ways.

The Administrative and Communications Specialist is responsible for providing administrative support and managing administrative systems for the Maine Youth Action Network. Responsibilities include providing administrative support for statewide programming leading logistics planning associated with Maine Youth Leadership Conference coordinating all administrative functions related to daily operations such as ordering supplies processing invoices and travel reimbursements and coordinating the external communications of the programming including any newsletters press releases and social media promotion.

Schedule: Full Time 40 hours per week hourly paid position.

Some weekend and overnights hours may be required dependent of program conference schedule.

Location: Office located in Portland ME.

Opportunity to work partially remote in a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorsdegree in business management finance education or communications related field and 2 years relevant work experience; or 2-year associates degree with 3 years administrative or assistant work required.
  • Experience working in youth engagement preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state of Maine including some overnights.
  • Preferred experience working with diverse populations includingengaging geographically isolated youth indigenous youth LGBTQ youth youth of color and/or youth living in poverty.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exhibits extensive software skills and Internet research abilities.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Must be able to exert moderate physical effort with frequent physically active trainings and meetings with youth and adults driving typing and occasionally lifting material weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings and for the occasional need to meet with clients offsite and within the program service area. This may include transportation of clients or driving to agency location to complete work. A good driving record is required.
