Job Description

Job Goal:Extended Learning Program Tutor works with students individually or in small groups to provide academic support for the blended learning program that serves Somerville students; these are students who are currently excluded from school or are at high risk of dropping out. The Extended Learning Tutor is expected to coordinate learning and track progress of students under the guidance of a Program Coordinator and the Extended Learning Teachers. The Extended Learning Tutor will support students continued progress toward attainment of a high school diploma.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the online academic program for the students based on their Individual Learning Plans.
  • Establish a consistent line of communication with students to support their progress through their online academic program as established in their ILP utilizing the online learning platform and through telephone support as needed.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring and support for students as they progress through courses including regular face-to-face sessions during school hours on a schedule established by the Extended Learning Coordinator during the school year.
  • Work with Extended Learning staff to assist with students motivation and progress toward academic goals.

Terms of Employment:

Yearly Appointment

July 2025 - June 2026

$30 per hour / Maximimum of 400 total work hours to be coordinated with the ELP Coordinator

July - August: Summer hourswill be scheduledin coordination with the Assistant Superintendent and program needs.
