Maintenance Mechanic - Search Extended

$35000 - $42875; commensurate with experience
Primarily reporting to the Science Buildings each workday but may be assigned to work or assist with work at other MTSU facilities. Perform a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds at various facilities/sites including electrical plumbing masonry and carpentry. Perform repairs rebuilds and new installations. Performs preventive maintenance on exhaust fans fume hoods sewer pumps backflow testing service and repair. Work involves air compressors replacement of belts and lubrication dishwashers electrical motors frost free faucets garbage disposals grease traps (in cafeterias) lighting fixtures lighting controls including photocontrols and timers motor controls multi-phase exhaust fan motors power receptacles repair and installation of plumbing fixtures. Work involves installation and repair of water piping electrical sanitary sewage lines and irrigation. Perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned. Work locations include all university property Guy James Farm Swine Farm Foundation Reception House Beef Unit and Airport. Emergency overtime and after hour callbacks may be required.
High School diploma or High Equivalency (HSE) required. Ability to obtain backflow testing certification within six month probationary period required.
Three years of direct experience with increasingly responsible building and plant maintenance work to include knowledge of electrical plumbing providing material take offs for preliminary scheduling masonry and concrete work carpentry and painting.
Valid Tennessee drivers license required.
Five years direct experience with increasingly responsible building and plant maintenance preferred.
