Position Summary: The Data Governance & Discovery Analyst is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of data entering residing in and exiting the HHIT environment. This role ensures data is properly inventoried categorized and managed in accordance with internal policies and external compliance requirements. The analyst will administer automated data discovery tools process data disposition requests and oversee data destruction activities. This position requires strong cross-functional collaboration technical fluency across Windows and Linux environments and the ability to communicate findings and progress to senior leadership. This position is an in-office in-person or hybrid role if local to South Bend or remote if not local to South Bend. Primary Responsibilities: - Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all incoming and outgoing data assets.
- Review and approve data entering the environment ensuring alignment with security and compliance standards.
- Manage and process data disposition requests including documentation and approval workflows.
- Oversee and document data destruction activities ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.
- Administer and optimize automated data discovery and classification tools.
- Categorize data by customer product and information classification (e.g. PHI PII internal confidential).
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify data gaps and facilitate the creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collate information accross CRM Project Management records and service requests to mitigate discrepancies with source of truth.
- Present findings trends and metrics to senior management on a regular basis.
- Support audits and compliance initiatives by providing data governance documentation and evidence.
- Stay current on data governance best practices tools and regulatory changes.
Required Skills/Abilities: - Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects
- Proficiency navigating both Windows and Linux environments via command line.
- Experience working independently in highly secure regulated environments.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and influence without authority.
- Experience with data classification governance or discovery tools preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare data types and regulatory frameworks (e.g. HIPAA HITRUST) is a plus.
Education & Experience: - Bachelors in Computer Science Software Engineering or equivalent experience
- 3 years experience in Information Systems governance auditing or administration
- 2 years experience using RedHat and Windows Server
- Understanding of Electronic Health Record data elements
- Experience in change management processes and documentation
- Familiarity with HIPAA Privacy and security controls
- Direct experience in Healthcare records release is a plus
