As a Telecommunications Operator you will operate radio telephone and computer equipment to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls. Youll be the first point of contact for individuals in need relaying vital information to law enforcement fire and emergency medical personnel. Your work directly contributes to the safety and well-being of our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and process 911 emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Dispatch police fire public works and emergency response personnel as needed.
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to log service calls.
- Monitor security cameras and access systems.
- Provide excellent customer service by interfacing with the public and other agencies.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
- Process drivers license and automobile tag histories for officers.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months of related experience or training.
- Possession or ability to earn certification from the Texas Department of Public Safety in TCIC/NCIC operations within six months of employment.
- License or the ability to be licensed as a Basic Telecommunications Operator by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
- Valid Texas drivers license.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient in modern office practices and computer systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in high-stress situations.
- Knowledge of public safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work is performed indoors in an office setting requiring extended periods at a workstation.
- Must have the ability to multitask and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
- Occasional lifting of objects up to 50 pounds may be required.
