We are offering a fully funded 3-year PhD position as part of the prestigious Marie Skodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) under the MAGNIFY EU project (Grant Agreement No.).
This role focuses on cutting-edge research into insulation methods and materials for high-power solid-state transformers (SSTs) aiming to optimize power density while ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
This position is hosted at our Krakow office (Poland) within a global R&D organization.
You will be part of a dynamic international research environment with secondments to leading institutions across Europe. Apart from Krakow office assignment the rotations will include:
HIT (Switzerland) Prior-art review and development of insulation rules (Months 910)
KUL (Belgium) Innovative insulation methods for high-power transformers (Months 1820)
ULB (Belgium) Empirical studies on thermal management in magnetic components (Months 2931)
How You Will Make an Impact
Investigate traditional and advanced insulation techniques (e.g. dry/air insulation resin impregnation) for high-voltage high-frequency SST environments.
Analyze thermal performance and heat dissipation to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency.
Collaborate with international experts and contribute to the development of next-generation power electronics.
Participate in specialized doctoral training and international conferences.
Work in state-of-the-art laboratories and contribute to groundbreaking interdisciplinary research.
Your Background
We are looking for highly motivated enthusiastic and communicative researchers who:
Hold a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Applied Physics Computer Science or a related field (top 5% academic performance).
Have knowledge of power electronics and thermal management (preferred).
Are skilled in modelling simulation and programming (e.g. MATLAB Ansys).
Have experience with laboratory equipment prototyping and testing (a plus).
Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety self-motivation and continuous learning.
