Job Description

Acting Assistant Professor Psychologist Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) are seeking candidates for one full-time or part-time faculty position at the rank of Acting Assistant Professor.

Acting Assistant Professor appointments are for one year renewable up to a maximum of four years consistent with university policy.

Acting faculty hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Part-time positions are not eligible for visa sponsorship. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching research/scholarship and service.

Anticipated Start Date: September 2025 January 2026

Job Duties:

  • Provide clinical care as an attending psychologist at UW Medical Center (UWMC) or Harborview Medical Center (HMC).
  • Support the implementation of digital tools (e.g. AI-supported assessment triage scheduling or therapy programs) in one or more of our clinical psychiatry programs.
  • Contribute to scholarship and training in the area of Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Teach and supervise trainees as appropriate and in conjunction with your clinical and research activities.
  • You may have other responsibilities as assigned by the Chair or Service Chief by mutual agreement.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is an integral component of the UW School of Medicine and shares UW Medicines mission to Improve the Health of the Public. As the only academic psychiatry department serving Washington Wyoming Alaska Montana and Idaho we are committed to improving access to psychiatric care consultation and training throughout the greater Pacific Northwest. Our educational programs include training for UW medical students from a five-state region (WWAMI) a nationally competitive psychiatry residency program with more than 90 psychiatry residents in Seattle and in two regional residency tracks in Idaho and Montana subspecialty fellowships in neuropsychiatry addiction child and adolescent consultation-liaison and geriatric psychiatry a nationally renowned scientist-practitioner psychology internship program and numerous post-doctoral clinical and research fellowships.

Learn more: department also supports a wide range of research and innovation programs across the age spectrum ranging from basic neuroscience to clinical population health and health services research. One of the goals of this particular recruitment is to support scholarly work and implementation of digital health and AI tools in the context of our regular clinical care in order to reach and help more individuals and families affected by mental health and addiction problems. The successful candidate will be able to build collaborations within our department and with other schools and departments across the University of Washington.

Salary

The base salary range for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

The base salary range for an Acting Assistant Professor position will be $110004 - $125004 annually ($9167 - $10417 per month).

Additional compensation associated with this position may include incentive payments through University of Washington (UWP) practice plan.



A PhD or PsyD (or foreign equivalent). Licensed to practice psychology or eligibility to become licensed in Washington State.
