Job Description

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious solicitor with 5 years post-qualification experience to join our growing Litigation team in London. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of complex high-value disputes involving civil fraud asset tracing and general commercial litigation often with an international dimension.

Candidates will be driven and commercially minded. Excellent written and communication skills are essential as well as being able to take initiative. The role will require a desire to engage in business development activities including authoring articles and preparing presentations to clients.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Manage a varied caseload of civil fraud and asset recovery matters including freezing injunctions disclosure orders and other urgent remedies.

  • Manage high-value and complex commercial litigation cases both in the UK and internationally including with a financial services focus.

  • Advise clients (corporates financial institutions HNWIs) on contentious matters often involving cross-border elements.

  • Draft witness statements pleadings and applications.

  • Liaise with and directly instruct barristers foreign lawyers (internally and externally) forensic accountants investigators and other suppliers.

  • Attend court hearings mediations and settlement discussions.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships providing pragmatic and strategic advice.

  • Contribute to business development initiatives and thought leadership within the team.

  • Manage all client work allocated to them ensuring that it is progressed in a timely fashion and that the client is kept apprised on progress and costs.

  • Exercising high standards of client care in a professional and friendly manner.

  • Ensuring that all of the Firms business and client documentation is kept confidential and secure.

  • Demonstrating a willingness to support clients out of hours and on weekends (on occasion and on a business-need basis) providing urgent round-the-clock advice.

  • Demonstrating excellent organisational skills to meet the demands of clients external stakeholders and the business

  • Supporting colleagues within the wider Litigation team.

  • Keeping up to date with current legislation and changes within area of expertise.

Experience Skills and personal attributes:

Essential:

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent common law jurisdiction).
  • 5 years PQE working mainly in the area of civil fraud asset recovery and commercial litigation.
  • Demonstrable experience with interim relief applications (e.g. freezing orders search orders).
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels.

  • Sound understanding of litigation procedures particularly in the High Court.
  • Excellent drafting analytical and advocacy skills.
  • Strong client management skills and commercial acumen.
  • Ability to understand complex legal principles and apply them accordingly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex fast moving cases.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • A commercial and pragmatic outlook.

  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and hands-on attitude responding effectively to rapidly changing circumstances.

  • Excellent team player and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and be a role model for the team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage simultaneous workstreams to tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience with cross-border litigation and offshore jurisdictions.
  • Language skills and/or international experience.
  • Active involvement in business development and networking.
  • Demonstrate ability to confidently interact with clients and actively seek new business development opportunities

Qualifications:

Admitted to practice as a solicitor or barrister either in England and Wales or qualified overseas with experience in the London market.Undergraduate degree achieving a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent.
