The Head Athletic Trainer provides oversight of part-time assistant athletic trainers and undergraduate athletic interns. Oversees standards of care as communicated by the team doctor ensuring that the highest level of care is intentionally and continually provided to the student athletes and visiting teams. Collaborates with team doctors and designated fellows. Manages operating budget and administrative duties. Oversees ordering of orthopedic supplies and durable medical equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Receive direction and supervision from the Athletic Director. Ensuring that the safety and well-being of student athletes is a priority. Oversee the University Athletics Insurance Program. Evaluates and treats orthopedic and muscular injuries by utilizing manual therapy modalities therapeutic exercise bracing splinting and custom orthotic fabrication. Provides coverage for practices and home contests. Will travel as schedule permits. Develops and implements strategic planning policies procedures and marketing of the Athletic Training area. Evaluates and assesses need for additional series in order to provide quality care to student athletes. Builds and maintains relationships with hospitals physicians offices and any other medical provider utilized by Fisk University. The Head Athletic Trainer serves as the University liaison to the NAIA as the Healthcare Administrator.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must possess knowledge of fundamental techniques and skills to supervisor the Athletic Training room and staff. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of orthopedic and muscular injuries concussion protocol and other general illnesses. Must be able toc communicated effectively verbally and in writing. Must be highly organized and able to manage the business and students athletes. Must be able to work within the framework of a team-oriented work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university is required. Master; s Degree in Athletic Training preferred.
Experience: A minimum of three-five years of experience in athletic training at High School Collegiate or outreach level. Proven ability to work with student-athletes from diverse backgrounds and effective communication skills.
Licenses or Certificates: NATA Certified. Eligible TN State Licensure
