Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Equipment Engineering and Maintenance to lead a team of highly skilled equipment engineers and equipment maintenance technicians in a fast-paced III-V Semiconductor wafer fab. This individual will be a key member of the Manufacturing leadership team driving operational scale-up capacity planning and the implementation of best-in-class manufacturing standards.
This position is in San Jose California and is 100% on site and supports a 24 x 7 operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create the equipment engineering strategy to support operational capabilities and readiness for the factorys ability to meet customer demands and demonstrate operational excellence
- Establish system and metrics to drive improvement and ensure equipment performance and availability to support high volume manufacturing
- Lead Equipment Engineering and Maintenance team to develop and maintain tools and preventative maintenance programs to improve equipment availability and reduce cost of ownership including troubleshooting and recovering down tools in a timely manner to minimize disruption to fab operations
- Direct cross-functional teams and external consultants in the design and execution for new equipment renovations and upgrades to support manufacturing. Manage end-to-end project delivery ensuring completion on time and within budget by overseeing the preparation of plans schedules budget and cost estimating and execution strategies.
- Lead quality and compliance for equipment engineering activities to ensure adherence to ISO 9001 Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) and all other applicable quality and safety standards including auditing quality reviews and root cause analysis to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Manage spare parts and consumable inventories part cleaning and vendor part repairs to support equipment maintenance and recovery
- Facilitate the equipment best practice and knowledge sharing with other Lumentum global factories to optimize the factory performance
Position Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Electronics Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant working experience
- 12 years of experience in advanced manufacturing for a high-volume environment in the semiconductor industry with at least 5 years in senior operational leadership roles managing a complex production environment
- Five years experience and knowledge with MOCVD epi reactor installation maintenance and upgrades
- Demonstrated record of driving successful operational improvements to scale high-volume manufacturing operations and lead expansion/upgrade activities.
- Extensive experience with Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement principles to drive change
- Ability to create effective KPIs to drive equipment performance systematically and achieve results
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective communications across cross-functional teams and vendors
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing principles practices and techniques as they relate to equipment engineering and maintenance
- Able to manage multiple equipment projects of various scope schedule and budget successfully
- Ability to work occasional off hours to support a fab that runs 24 x 7
- Demonstrated leadership in and compliance with all safety policies and procedures
Pay Range:
P90-USA-1 :$164650.00 - $235200.00
