Your mission
To lead design teams and be the driving force behind breakthrough surgical tools and robotic systems that will define the future of minimally invasive treatment. This isnt just any engineering role its a chance to pioneer technology that directly improves patient outcomes and surgical precision. What Your Day-To-Day Will Involve:

    • Lead the mechanical architecture design and development of surgical capital equipment and accessory components.
    • Own system-level mechanical design decisions including trade-offs in functionality cost reliability and manufacturability.
    • Develop complex electro-mechanical assemblies mechanisms and fluid-handling systems for surgical use.
    • Drive alignment across and collaborate with cross-functional teams (Systems Electrical Software Clinical Regulatory Operations and Manufacturing) throughout the product development lifecycle.
    • Translate clinical and user needs into engineering specifications and robust mechanical solutions.
    • Drive iterative prototyping design reviews risk analyses and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) practices.
    • Oversee verification and validation (V&V) testing including reliability and environmental testing.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as IEC 60601 ISO 13485 and FDA Design Controls.
    • Guide supplier selection and qualification; support manufacturing process development and scale-up.
    • Mentor to mechanical engineering team members promoting knowledge sharing and growth.
    • Participate in strategic planning technical road mapping and innovation initiatives within R&D

The Qualifications We Need You to Possess

    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required Masters degree preferred
    • Minimum of 15 years of working experience designing medical capital equipment systems and/or medical electro-mechanical products including robotic systems
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with a proven ability to work cross-functionally and drive consensus and present to executive leadership.
    • Proven expertise across all phases of the product development lifecycle from concept to design transfer and manufacturing.
    • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks including modeling of complex mechanisms and assemblies.
    • Strong prototyping and iterative design skills with hands-on experience building and testing mechanical systems.
    • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding machining sheet metal forming and rapid prototyping.
    • Demonstrated ability to design for manufacturability reliability and cost-efficiency.
    • Experience managing outsourced development programs and setting technical criteria for vendor deliverables.
    • Skilled in mechanical analysis including statics dynamics kinematics and stress analysis.
    • Advanced proficiency in tolerance stack-up analysis for low- to mid-volume production environments.
    • Familiarity with IEC 60601 standards and thermal design for complex integrated systems.
    • Deep understanding of medical device regulations design controls risk management and quality systems (e.g. ISO 13485 FDA 21 CFR Part 820).
    • Proven track record of delivering Class II/III medical devices from concept through commercialization.
    • Travel up to 10% of the time internationally and domestic

The Qualifications We Would Like You to Possess

    • Prior experience with robotic surgery systems endoscopic devices or advanced instrumentation
    • Familiarity with usability engineering and human factors design
    • Direct experience working with surgeons and clinical teams to capture product feedback in an operating room setting
    • Hands-on collaborative and solutions-oriented approach

PAY RANGE TRANSPARENCY
Procept is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range(s) for this role represents a base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to job-related skills depth of experience relevant certifications and training and specific work location. Based on the factors above Procept utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus equity and the benefits listed above.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Well provide you training for and ask you to maintain trained status for and comply with all relevant aspects of the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality Management System to ensure product and support regulatory compliance. We would also ask you to understand and adhere to the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality & EHS policies.
