Job Description

Our Clerk Department at Cache County is seeking an Office Specialist to join our team. This is an entry-level role where youll handle various clerical and secretarial tasks to help keep things running smoothly in the County Clerks office and support the county council. This is a full-time benefited position.

The starting wage for the Office Specialist position is $19.21 per hour. Youll receive great benefits from day one including medical dental vision and life insurance retirement contributions bereavement leave and 14 paid holidays. What youll be doing:

You might take notes at county council meetings type messages for the council or help keep our records organized. Youll get to help people with all sorts of things like understanding laws procedures elections voter registration and getting licenses assisting folks with their business licenses helping out with election stuff including organizing federal state and county elections and training election workers. Handling all the details for marriage licenses - recording processing and organizing them. Helping to balance and deposit money collected.


What you need:

A high school diploma plus at least a year of experience in a similar role or a combo of education and experience thats just as good. You should be good with computers typing data entry and filing. Knowing about budgets bookkeeping and general office procedures will be super helpful. Youll need to be able to pick up official document formats quickly work fast and accurately with numbers and handle deadlines like a pro.
Being a great communicator both in person and in writing is key. Were looking for someone who can build good relationships with colleagues and elected officials and whos awesome at customer service.


The ability to work independently is a big plus!

ABOUT YOU:

Education & Experience: Graduation from High School with course background in accounting or bookkeeping or equivalent; 1 year of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge: Working knowledge of county fiscal practices and procedures; ability to follow complex instructions.

Skills: Skilled in operating a computer terminal typing data entry filing systems budgetary principles bookkeeping and accounting techniques most appropriate to county government standard office practices and procedures related to filing and record keeping.

Abilities: Ability to learn official document formats and indexing methods; work quickly and accurately with figures; work under time pressure in meeting deadlines; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates peers supervisors and elected officials.
