TITLE:

Communications Specialist

2025-2026 School Year

POSITION SUMMARY:

To promote the achievements of the FPS students and staff as well as the mission and brand of Framingham Public Schools by creating engaging content that is consistent accessible and visually appealing; to communicate with the community and public under the direction of the Superintendent; to produce strategic and innovative content to tell a visual story in accessible and informative ways via printed material online graphics infographics district and school websites and social media videos and/or any other forms of creative and visual communication; and to provide audio-visual set-up for events conduct photoshoots and provide creative and technical support for multimedia projects.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

The qualifications consist of a Bachelors degree in fine arts marketing communications or a related field with 3-5 years of experience in various creative and technical roles. This includes designing graphics multimedia videos websites and marketing materials; creating digital content for online platforms; and producing multimedia for events. Proficiency in graphic video and web software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro is required. Experience in social media web design and content production is also essential. Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITY:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Eye for details and strong proofreading skills experience in copywriting and editing preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to set priorities and take initiative. Ability to respond positively to changing priorities. Strong relationship-building skills working with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Solid understanding of project management principles. Working knowledge of MS Office and/or Google. Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Proficient command of English.

The performance of this job will be evaluated by the Superintendent of Schools or their designee by the end of each school year.

This position is classified as Exempt (Professional).

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a full-time 52-week-per-year non-union position that allows for flexible hours to accommodate event attendance.
