Our La Prxima Generacin program helps Michigan first-generation students and young professionals navigate their present and their future by providing support resources and opportunities. In collaboration with our school partner Western International High School MiHC is launching a new innovative in-school program designed specifically for first-generation high school students. This is not a traditional college and career readiness course; it will equip students with essential life skills fostering social-emotional growth and creating space for identity exploration and experiential learning. Through this course students gain the tools confidence and exposure they need to thrive in high school college and beyond. The ideal candidates will bring passion energy and creativity into the classroom while developing strong relationships with students and families. We are seeking multiple teachers to lead sections in 9th and 12th grade. Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engaging student-centered lessons aligned to the curriculum created by MiHC and partners. Foster a classroom environment that is inclusive supportive and culturally responsiveencouraging student voice and and adapt curriculum materials resources and activities to meet the needs and interests of our target student population ensuring cultural relevance and sensitivity. Collaborate with program staff and school partners to ensure alignment and seamless as a trusted adult mentor and motivator who helps students see and reach their and report program data to support college and career planning partnerships and instructional & SkillsBachelors degree from an accredited 4-year institution (required)Michigan Teacher Certification required Minimum of 2 years of experienceDemonstrated commitment to educational equity and belief in every students potential to succeedExperience working with low- to moderate-income families and first-generation studentsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to build rapport and maintain relationships with students families staff and community partnersProficient in using technology and data to drive student successProven track record of engaging and inspiring high school students in a dynamic learning environment.
