ESSENTIAL DUTIES FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inputs patient information into the electronic data system to generate a visit record for the patient.
- Processes requests for Medical Records utilizing the electronic data system.
- Greet patients collect patient data and ensure the flow of patient care.
- Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling systems with
patient appointments cancellations and reschedules for various radiology exams including Mammography MRI CT scans X-rays and ultrasounds ensuring optimal use of radiology department resources. - Confirm upcoming patient appointments either in person or via telephone.
- Answer phone calls take messages and direct calls appropriately.
- Request receive and distribute documentation and requisitions such as release of information and consent forms.
- Demonstrates proficiency and accuracy in all appropriate Radiology Information System (RIS) Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) systems Electronic Health Record (EHR) workflows and processes.
- Provide excellent customer service and demonstrate telephone etiquette and exemplary patient experience.
- Coordinate with radiologists technologists and other healthcare professionals to manage daily appointment schedules and accommodate emergency cases.
- Provide patients with pre-examination instructions such as dietary restrictions or clothing requirements to prepare them for their radiology procedures.
- Handle patient inquires related to radiology services appointment timings and preparation instructions offering clear and compassionate communication.
- Liaise with referring physicians offices to obtain and verify orders for radiology exams ensuring that all necessary documentation is in order before the appointment.
- Manage the coordination of transportation services for patients requiring assistance to and from their radiology appointments ensuring accessibility for all patients.
- Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
- Daily image Quality Assurance/Quality Control and records.
- Processes department mail and routes correspondence(s) to the appropriate individual.
- Records and maintains daily census.
- Tracks incomplete studies in PACS and requests necessary information for completion of exams.
- Tracks incomplete and reports incomplete studies to the PACS administrator and respective technologist.
- Monitor PACS to ensure accurate image and record consolidation.
- Responsible for ensuring all pre-radiology exam clerical workflows are completed in advance of patients arrival to ensure a satisfactory experience and outcome.
- Monitor lobby and doorways for patient activity and maintain the patient waiting area to ensure it is clean and comfortable for patients. Checks lobby for patients to minimize wait time. Communicate any expected wait times to patients.
- Assists with answering phones and phone call overflow as needed.
- Ensures orders are placed and correct.
- Cancel orders that are not needed.
- Prints and mails patient appointment letters.
- Order supplies utilizing the electronic order system.
- Power shares images or burns images on CDs as requested.
- Responsible for obtaining orders from physicians.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Six (6) months direct work experience.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE).
