Job Details:

Mercer University Athletics is searching for an Assistant Coach Softball.


Responsibilities:

The Assistant Softball Coach will serve as the head compliance liaison and work with advanced game and practice planning. This position will assist in all recruiting of potential student-athletes. The Assistant Softball Coach will scout opponents in preparation for game strategy and player development for offensive skills outfield/catching and defensive skills. This position assists in scheduling and making travel arrangements as well as assisting in organizing and managing all softball camps/clinics. Assisting in fundraising/athletic development is also a requirement of this position. Other duties include monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes ordering and managing equipment and overseeing advising and assisting the 2nd assistant position.

Duties include:

Encourage and promote high academic and athletic standards.

Sets a high standard in academic and scholarly excellence personal integrity professional competence and professional ethics.

Works to enrich the emotional well-being of the student-athlete through proper role modeling and the demonstration of high ethical standards and behavior.

Conduct video analysis and instruction as a teaching and preparation tool.

Plans practice and/or competition strategy.

Identify evaluate and recruit potential team members.

Retain current MU students as team members.

Ensure that program meets annual squad size number.

Ensure program recruiting activities adhere to University and NCAA Policies and Procedures.

Assist in monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes.

Assist with fundraising & budget.

Assist in scheduling and travel details.

Maintaining facilities/equipment.

Organizing and managing all softball camps/clinics.

Qualifications:

A bachelors degree from an accredited college/university and prior coaching experience are required. Candidates must complete the NCAA Coachs Recruiting Test.

Candidates must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the universitys carrier as this position requires some travel.
