Job Description

Education and Experience:

Level of Degree:

o Bachelors Degree and/or Masters Degree

o PA Special Education Certification

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

o Prior experience working in Autistic Support and Multiple Disability Support Special Education classrooms beneficial.

o Ability to communicate effectively across a variety of team members including parents.

o Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

o Excellent oral and written communication skills.

o Advanced computer competency in Microsoft Office IEP Writer and the ability to learn other software as needed.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable): Citizenship or work authorization to work in the United States required.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary:

The Educational Consultant an experienced special education teacher provides ongoing coaching feedback and support to assigned classroom teams in Bucks IU School Aged classrooms and/or school district Educational Consultant must have training and expertise in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis to recommend current effective evidence-based instructional practices. This individual must be well versed in effective classroom management assessment program development instructional delivery and materials data collection data analysis and progress monitoring. This individual may attend IEP meetings provide professional development (small and large group) and consult with district liaisons.

This job reports to Supervisor of Special Education.


Essential Functions:

  • Collaborates and consults with professional paraprofessional staff and other school personnel to develop a cohesive learning community ensuring continuous improvement and improving overall quality of student outcomes.
  • Provide onsite guided practice feedback and support to the teacher in the following areas: classroom environment assessment program development instructional delivery and materials data collection data analysis and progress monitoring.
  • Provides case managers with guidance and decision-making skills to support IEP development
  • Monitor and assists with the collection organization and analysis and assessment data for the purpose of ensuring measurable student progress toward goals.
  • Support the implementation of behavioral strategies and interventions
  • Provide recommendations for and guidance in selecting appropriate student assessment
  • Implementation modification and adaptation of program development for students in conjunction with the Bucks IU Special Education Teacher
  • Use data collection including treatment fidelity checklists to guide feedback
  • Review and provide feedback on student data; support data based instructional decisions
  • Provide professional development learning opportunities to professional and paraprofessional support staff
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to further develop own skills and contribute to effective program development and training
  • Attend IEP meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Education

Supervisory Responsibility: No direct supervisory responsibilities.

The employee may be required to stand for long periods and to climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time 193-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are dependent on the needs of the districts. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: May be required to travel to itinerant locations throughout Bucks County and surrounding regions.
