Responsibilities

Are you a detail-oriented and analytical professional passionate about improving patient care through effective peer review processes Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a dedicated Medical Staff Peer Review Specialist to support our medical staff in maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence. In this vital role you will contribute to Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and patient safety within our Tacoma facility.

What Youll Do:

Data Collection & Analysis: Collect analyze and interpret data related to physician performance including clinical outcomes patient safety indicators and compliance with standards.


OPPE/FPPE Support: Support the OPPE and FPPE processes by preparing comprehensive reports and case studies for presentation to the Multi-Specialty Peer Review Committee and Section Committees.


Performance Improvement: Identify opportunities for provider improvement and work with individual providers and teams to facilitate improvement in individual performance and clinical documentation.


Quality Initiatives: Contribute to quality of care initiatives designed to ensure compliance with hospital policy evidence-based patient care standards and applicable regulatory requirements.


Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of current and changing regulatory requirements with the potential to impact documentation practices and related training.


Presentation & Communication: Prepare and deliver clear and concise presentations to high-level audiences and physician groups.


Collaboration: Collaborate with medical staff leaders quality improvement teams and other stakeholders to promote systemic improvements in patient care.


Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and complete documentation of peer review activities.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in healthcare administration nursing or other related discipline graduation from an accredited school of nursing and four years of related work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Washington State Nursing Commission.
