About the role

The City of Parramatta is seeking a highly skilled and passionate community services leader to take on the strategic role of Community Capacity Lead. This position within our Community Capacity Building (CCB) team will focus on driving impactful initiatives and responses to some of our most pressing social challenges including homelessness and the prevention of family and domestic violence. You will play a key role in shaping and leading our strategic responses to these priorities working collaboratively across Council as well as government and non-government sectors and championing initiatives that create lasting change in our community.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team influence local and state policies and make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable residents in the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). We are looking for a visionary leader who can develop innovative sustainable strategies build effective partnerships and inspire action in areas that address homelessness and family and domestic violence priorities that are central to our strategic goals for a thriving inclusive and resilient community.

On a daily basis you will:

  • Lead strategic initiatives addressing homelessness and the prevention of family domestic violence through the effective implementation of Councils Homelessness Action Plan and Prevention of Family & Domestic Violence Action Plan
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team of professionals ensuring alignment and accountability towards achieving Councils strategic objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal teams government agencies non-profit organisations and other stakeholders to drive collaborative solutions.
  • Shape and implement policies and programs that support individuals and families affected by homelessness and family and domestic violence.
  • Monitor evaluate and report on the effectiveness of programs and projects ensuring continuous improvement and innovation in response to emerging needs.
  • Advocate for social justice and human rights influencing policy at local state and national levels to improve outcomes for the most vulnerable members of the community.
  • Lead high-profile complex projects with a focus on integrated community solutions and sustainable impact.
  • Prepare Council Reports Briefing Notes responses to Councillor enquiries and issues papers as required in addition to communications for various media on projects.

About You
The successful candidate should have:

  • Extensive experience (10-15 years) in the community services and local government sectors (or similar field) leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering strategic outcomes preferably in the areas of homelessness domestic violence or related social services.
  • A strong understanding of the socio-economic issues facing vulnerable communities with a deep commitment to social sustainability justice and capacity building.
  • Proven experience working in high-level partnerships across government and non-government sectors with the ability to influence policy and create systemic change.
  • Expertise in developing implementing and evaluating activities that improve the lives of disadvantaged groups.
  • High-level project management skills including budget oversight strategic planning and stakeholder engagement.
  • Exceptional communication negotiation and advocacy skills with the ability to engage and influence a range of stakeholders including government officials community organisations and the public.
  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences social planning or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Current drivers license.

Whats on offer
We are offering an attractive remuneration from $142245 to $156619 plus 11.5% superannuation.
